"Art of Murf" Featured Artist at Gallery 212 Miami during the Art Basel Miami 2012 special exhibition November 2012 - January 2013
In 1990, Murf copyrighted and published his first lithographs. This Art Deco Jazz Series was first introduced at the 1991 New York Art Expo. Since that time, Murf has published many more popular designs. Many of these images are well known through the use of art festival posters as well as album and magazine covers. Many of Murf's designs have been added to the collections of famous jazz musicians and other public figures, which include Dave Sanborn, Richard Elliot, Kenny Rankin, Dave Koz and President Clinton. Murf's "Earth Island" piece is featured on the PBS "Jim Brickman Beautiful World" special.
In 2006, Murf was invited to the most prestigious diplomatic event of the year, the United Nations Ambassadors' Ball. This event was a special farewell celebration in honor of U. N. Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize winner Kofi Annan, held at Cipriani in New York City. Murf's original painting "In a Perfect World" was the feature piece for this event. In 2010, Murf presented the new U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon with his "Earth Island" lithograph.
Murf claims many of the inspirations of his art can be attributed to his love of nature, music and science. Over the years, Murf has been deeply involved in many environmental projects. His designs have raised substantial amounts of money for environmental, educational and social causes. Murf has shared the limelight with many celebrities including Ivana Trump, Pamela Anderson and Bob Barker, at many of these fundraising events. Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore has expressed his appreciation to Murf's commitment for the preservation and protection of our environment.
Today, Murf's work is being recognized by collectors all over the world. His new age style and distinctive art form has led to his great success. Murf's work can now be seen in prominent galleries and exhibitions across the country.

With over one-hundred guests attending each of the two nights, "Stiltsville Illuminated" - dubbed Art Basel on the Water - was a huge success, raising a great amount of support for both Shake-a-Leg Miami's continuing programs for kids and for the preservation and restoration of the remaining Stiltsville homes through the Stiltsville Trust.
Introduced by Photographer Matt Stock with a megaphone from the boats, two Stiltsville houses; the Baldwin-Sessions house and the Leshaw house, were illuminated on the water before the audience's very eyes in a simulation of Stock's nighttime photography process. "Aqualuma" provided the underwater lighting which thrilled in amazing blues and greens, along with topside lighting in oranges, reds and yellows done by "Rays of Light".
Guests enjoyed catered desserts by Gaea Garrity and bar by Bacardi at both houses.
Inside the Baldwin-Sessions house Mark Lewis, the superintendent of the Biscayne National Park, and historian Dr. Paul George talked about the history of the Biscayne Bay and Stiltsville community.
Gail Baldwin, of the Baldwin-Sessions home and also the chairman of the Stiltsville Trust, told a fantastic story about Senator Kennedy and a notorious birthday party held at the Baldwin-Sessions house. He also shared a story of one of the homes collapsing into the water under the weight of too many party goers! Stiltsville has a wild history for sure...
Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove boasts the oldest waterfront in Florida and was one of the major event sponsors as well as Alma Mater to many of the wonderful people involved in this historic event. Stiltsville Illuminated was attended and made possible by several Ransom alumni and trustees, such as Mark Dacy of Shake-a-Leg Miami (below, left) who played an instrumental role in its success.
